2020 John Anthony Crane Vineyard Syrah
"Despite comprising less than one acre, the Hermitage clone planted at Crane Vineyard continues to be the dominant force in this vineyard-designate Syrah. Displaying deep purple tones in the glass, this Syrah opens with dense aromas of olallieberry, black currant, and sarsaparilla. An explosive mouthfeel delivers brambly black and blue fruits with suggestions of lavender, sweet cigar, and crushed stone. Aged for 20 months in 55 percent new French oak barrels. Only 200 cases produced."
Vintage Notes: Mild temperatures augured an ideal start to the 2020 growing season, with low winter rainfall contributing to an early bud break. Warm summer conditions were buffered by cool mornings heading into harvest, promoting evenhanded flavors and structure in our Crane Vineyard Syrah.
