"The 2022 Reserve Chardonnay hails solely from the historic Jameson Canyon Vineyard. Acquired by John in 2021 this esteemed estate is located in the cool-climate region of southeastern Napa Valley. Striking golden hues in the glass, aromas of Anjou pears, apple compote, and orange blossom are weighted with notes of brioche and vanilla wafer. Flavors deepen with hints of mandarin, almonds, and subtle ocean minerality. Its vibrant acidity transforms into a velvety, satin finish. This small-batch wine underwent barrel fermentation and is aged in 83% percent new French oak barrels. Only 200 cases produced."
The 2021 John Anthony Reserve Syrah is inky purple with a violet rim. Aromas of plum, date, fig, lilac, and black earth lead to a bold palate of huckleberry, bramble berries, volcanic notes, and black pepper. The wine’s high tone acidity lifts intense fruit flavors, while firm, elegant tannins shape a long finish. Aged 22 months in 52% new French oak. Only 176 cases produced.

The John Anthony Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is selected from the best of the vintage across our estates. The 2021 vintage is driven by fruit from the rocky, hillside terrain of Twisted Oak Vineyard, thoughtfully balanced by the head-trained, dry-farmed vines at Coombsville Vineyard. Deep ruby-garnet hues introduce an aromatic profile of blueberry and strawberry accented by bay leaf and a touch of the sweet and spicy nuance of tobacco. On the palate, fresh blueberry and ivy unfold into complex barrel tones and spices. A supple and fruit-forward opening, balanced by lively acidity and firm tannins, creates a structure that captures the rare distinction of being exceptional now and destined to evolve beautifully over time. Aged in 90% New French oak for 28 months. 256 cases produced.
The John Anthony Reserve Merlot is selected from the best barrels of the vintage. Sourced from Crane Vineyard, this estate was the first vineyard John planted in 1996. Deep ruby tones in the glass with aromas of sweet red fruits and a whisper of clove. The palate is vibrant with dark cherry, red currant, and plum skin, complemented by a hint of coffee. A long, elegant finish and tight tannins promise aging potential. Aged 22 months in 76% new French oak. 67 cases produced.

"The Reserve Merlot represents an ultra-limited selection of the finest barrels from the vintage—all from Crane Vineyard, the first vineyard that John planted in 1996. Sturdy and structured on the palate, releasing flavors of pomegranate, kirsch, and anise. Firm tannins relax with velvety progression into an elegant yet powerful finish. "The twenty-five year old vines I planted in 1996 on the Crane Vineyard continue to produce merlot with expressive maturity. Raspberry bread pudding, mint and mocha aromas. The fruit is powerful and well complemented with spice, displaying energy and elegance. Notable structure in this vintage. Layered flavors of black cherry, blueberry compote and dried pomegranate with baking spices, blue flowers and cocoa. The tannins soften to round edges on the palate, giving way to a silky finish."
