2020 John Anthony Coombsville Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Tasting Notes:
"Coombsville Vineyard is a small four-acre estate that yields bold and expressive fruit. Head-trained, spur-pruned, and dry-farmed, the vines produce a limited amount of fruit with exceptional quality–a true standout in our exclusive single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon collection. Deep, ruby-purple hues in the glass anticipate aromas of black cherry, lavender, and graphite. On the palate find notes of fresh blackberries, sweet pine, and dried herbs. This Cabernet Sauvignon envelopes the palate like a skilled boxer while possessing the poise and grace of a ballerina. Aged for 28 months in 80% new French oak barrels. Only 200 cases produced."
Vintage Notes:
Mild temperatures created an ideal start to the 2020 growing season in Napa Valley, with low winter rainfall contributing to an early bud break. The Cabernet Sauvignon crop was marked by small berries with beautifully concentrated flavors. Warm summer conditions were buffered by cool mornings heading into the harvest season, promoting evenhanded flavors and structure across our Cabernet Sauvignon estates.
