2019 John Anthony Lot 8 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
John Anthony Vineyards was the winning bidder of Lot 8 Cabernet Sauvignon grapes at the Napa Valley Grapegrowers’ Harvest STOMP auction benefiting the Napa Valley Farmworker Foundation. This stunning 2019 vintage from one of Napa Valley’s oldest, family-owned grapegrowers in the Calistoga AVA is acclaimed for growing Bordeaux varietals.
Deep purple hues in the glass with aromas of dark stone fruits, dried sage, and blue flowers. On the palate enjoy ripe blackberries, black plums, and a hint of molasses with notes of cracked leather and crushed stone. This Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits a round and plush texture with a dense core and firm tannins, presenting a hearty and weighted profile of elegance and power. Aged for 20 months in 100% new French oak. Less than 50 cases available.
Vintage Notes:
Abundant early rainfall was a welcome sight in advance of the 2019 growing season. A warm, steady summer in Napa Valley was followed by moderate conditions through harvest. The signatures of this Cabernet Sauvignon vintage are vibrancy and structure, as exemplified by this incredible release from Calistoga AVA.
