2019 John Anthony Calistoga Cabernet Sauvignon
"Calistoga Vineyard is John Anthony’s northernmost Napa Valley estate, where warmer temperatures and rocky soils predominate. Hues of deep ruby-purple yield to engulfing aromas of brambly blackberry, black currant, and forest floor. The bouquet is echoed on the palate with accents of black cherry, black pepper, and cedar. Power meets elegance on the finish, displaying grainy tannins that release with softness and length. Aged for 28 months in 70 percent new French oak barrels. Only 200 cases produced."
Vintage Notes: Abundant early rainfall was a welcome sight in advance of the 2019 growing season. A warm, steady summer in Napa Valley was followed by moderate conditions through harvest. The signatures of this Cabernet Sauvignon vintage were vibrancy and structure, as exemplified by this limited Calistoga Vineyard release.
