John Anthony Vineyards

"Mixed berry aromas with plum and dark currant. Hints of black licorice and sweet herbs. On the palate, the wine is rich and broad with firm structure balanced by a supple finish. Blackberry and Cassis flavors dominate with the support of five spice and a high mineral tone. This classic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon continues to bear the standard for John Anthony. It can be enjoyed immediately and for the next 15 years to come."

"From our Twisted Oak hillside vineyard and neighboring vineyards on the valley floor. Dark briar fruit, spiced pie crust and crushed gravel aromatics confirm its continued refinement even from last vintage. Macerated red and black berries, ripe fig, caramel flan and dried potpourri showcase round fruit and notable spice. The wine is both strong and supple in its tannins with a distinctly acidic backbone that gives way to a lengthy finish."

"The Coombsville Vineyard is one of our most intriguing vineyards. Dry farmed. Head trained. Four acres. Black cherry, raspberry jam and blood orange scents with sweet lavender, sage and exotic spices. The flavors are explosive. A dense core of dark berries and plums wrapped in grilled herbs, bittersweet dark chocolate, sweet tobacco and tanned leather. The finish is nearly undending and unfolds with great symmetry in its tannin and acid, fruit and spice."

“This is the top two percent of what we produce: Four barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon from over two hundred barrels produced in the John Anthony Vineyards portfolio, the Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is the best in show of the 2015 vintage. Dense and utterly complex tones of black, blue and red fruit are all showcased within a frame of potpourri, lead and sweet earthy tones. This is a wine of both elegance and muscle, whose fruit comes from the best of both our hillside and valley floor vineyards.”

"Only the fifth release of this Cabernet Sauvignon in the seventeenth vintage of John Anthony Vineyards. The ONE continues to command great balance in aroma, flavor and structure. It is both powerful and subtle. The hillside character exhibits an intensity of fruit and spice with a layered texture that is this wine’s hallmark. The 2015 vintage produced very low yields with remarkable quality and the ONE is that epitome. Aromas show themselves immediately and evolve quickly from big fruit to flowers and spices. Both sweet and savory, there is expansive black cherry, cassis and wild berries on the palate that linger with hints of fresh Herbs de Provence, sweet tobacco and graphite. The tannins and acid indicate its ability to cellar age for decades, but it drinks exquisitely now with suggested decanting. I am very proud of the continued evolution of the ONE Cabernet Sauvignon program and hope to continue its releases from my favorite vineyards in the vintages that provide me the opportunity. This is one of my best made wines to date and I encourage you to enjoy its evolution now, and with patience, in the years to come."
