2017 La Dame Michele Single Vineyard Blanc de Blanc
"A landmark vintage release from John Anthony, marking the first single-vineyard edition of La Dame Michele. A sparkling wine born of the standards practiced by the great Champagne houses, with five years spent en tirage. Aromas of Fuji apple and fresh almond anticipate notes of citrus blossom, lemon shortcake and lychee. The mouthfeel is flush with structure, delicacy and length, exhibiting refined effervescence and luscious acidity. A masterful wine that will age beautifully for decades to come."
Vintage Notes:
The year began with abundant rainfall, followed by a mild Spring resulting in extended flowering with little shatter. A Labor Day weekend heatwave kicked harvest into high gear, then cool weather allowed sugar levels to return to normal. By October 8 nearly 90 percent of the 2017 grape tonnage was complete. Napa Valley's 2017 vintage is described with "finesse," "great complexity of flavor" and "elegance."
