John's great Grandfather Jean-Marie Truchard arrives, along with several family members, from Leon, France through Ellis Island.

Jean-Marie Truchard purchases 500 acres 1.5 hours North of Houston with gold bullion. He plants 20 acres with grapes and builds a small winery.

The Truchard family discovers that the Texas micro climate is not suited for grape growing and continue to make a living farming other crops and raising cattle.

John's grandfather, Joe Truchard is born on the family farm.

John's father Tony Truchard is born. One of seven and the oldest son he was raised on the family farm.

John's mother Jo Ann, slips on a grape and through a twist of fate Tony Truchard moves the family to the West coast.

Tony Truchard practices medicine in Reno, Nevada during the week. Each weekend the six children are loaded into the Chevy Blazer and the family head to the vineyard in the Napa Valley.

The Truchard family relocates to the Napa Valley full time.

Tony Truchard continues to purchase property in the famed Carneros region, developing 180 acres on his nights and weekends. The children were often, "put to good use" in the vineyard. Being the oldest son, John Anthony had the opportunity to learn the business from the ground up.

Knowing that he wants to one day make his own wine, John Anthony starts farming for others on the nights and weekends.
