“The eleventh offering of the John Anthony ONE Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted from the single best barrel of the 2021 vintage. The selection for this bottling is sourced exclusively from Twisted Oak Vineyard in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley—a hillside site in the foothills of the Mayacamas mountain range. This AVA is renowned for its exceptionally elegant Cabernets, thanks to the cooling influences of San Pablo Bay, its modest elevations that retain marine air and fog, and fine, gravelly clay loam soils with excellent drainage. One of John’s first vineyard sites, Twisted Oak, produces fruit of exceptional structure, intensity, and depth. In the glass, this release of The ONE reveals itself with a dark garnet hue, ringed with bluish edges. The nose is pronounced, opening with aromas of blackberry and black plum reduction, followed by nuances of toasted allspice and buttered toffee. On the palate, a silk entry unfolds into juicy boysenberry, tart black cherry, dark chocolate, black tea, and cassis. The palate is both refined and powerful, with chewy, enduring tannins that extend through a lingering finish. This wine is exquisite now and will cellar beautifully for decades to come.”
